I’ve recently heard a lot of complaints about how tough it is to make decent money in today’s economy, less people are buying and more and more people are trying to sell their goods and services for less and less. How is a person suppose to make a decent wage and get paid a fair price on their products and services? The answer is quite simple really and it goes against everything everyone else is doing. The way to do it is to continue offering the exceptional goods and services you have been and continue to charge the same price. “That Can’t Work!” you might think, but oh are you wrong. It all comes down to marketing and the instant opinion the consumer has about your product or service.

Here’s an example. You go to the supermarket to buy apples and you have two choices, both choices look identical but one is priced at a dollar more than the other. A regular consumer might go with the cheaper one, but that’s not the consumer you want. You want the consumer that thinks, “the higher priced apple must be better, why else would they be selling it for me.” Now take the same senario but add a little marketing, you walk into the supermarket and see the two apple displays, one is a dollar more but there is a bright sign above it saying “Crunchier, Juicier, Tastier!” Would you be inclined to still buy the cheaper apple? Of course not. This brings us to Sally.

Sally has been a good friend of mine and after giving birth a year or so ago she decided to try her hand at working from home but didn’t know where to start. After a little research I turned her on to the website Work From Home Moms and soon she was getting advice and information from other Mothers who had been in the exact same place Sally was in. Sally gained great insight and was soon making more from home than her husband was at his 9-5 job. Sally parlayed her new-found knowledge and helped to create a great Business Directory & Guide which now her husband helps manage after deciding that working from home actually pays better than his old corporate gig.

The conclusion? It’s all a matter of drive, ambition and knowledge. Couple that with a touch of marketing and you will soon find yourself sitting on a goldmine, just like Sally and her husband. Sally started from the ground-up with no knowledge but soon learned exactly how to market both herself and her services in a way that attracted customers and clients and retained them
